Concord, NH — Senate Bill 287, an extreme bill that could cause veterans, disabled Granite Staters and other New Hampshire citizens their right to vote via absentee ballot is moving to the Governors desk next week. This week dozens of Granite Staters sent their stories to Governor Ayotte as to why they use absentee ballots and the effect that signing SB287 would have on them. You can see their stories here. Several organizations also sent this letter to Governor Ayotte urging her to veto SB287, citing its harmful impact on military voters, veterans, people with disabilities, and seniors. Mckenzie Taylor released the following statement:
“SB287 is not simply an absentee voting policy, it is a change that, if signed into law by the governor, will have a very real and detrimental impact on absentee voting. The collection of stories from Granite State voters that the Governor received today shows the harmful effects that this law would have. Governor Ayotte should veto SB287 so that every New Hampshire voters is able to cast a ballot and have their voice heard.”
