New Hampshire Campaign for Voting Rights Calls for Governor, State House Leaders, and Secretary of State to Condemn Windham Conspiracy Theories

CONCORD-- Last night, the Windham Board of Selectmen held a public meeting to discuss their choice of an analyst for the forensic audit of the November election results. The meeting descended into chaos that was fueled by dangerous rhetoric and conspiracy theories which undermine our free and fair elections.

In response, the New Hampshire Campaign for Voting Rights released the following statement:

“What happened last night in Windham is exactly why leaders from every party and at every level of government must unequivocally reject any attempts to inject [lies] or unfounded conspiracy theories of voter fraud into this audit process. It undermines the overall well-executed 2020 election in New Hampshire, and is precisely why the anti-voter agenda moving its way through the legislature is so dangerous. These bills only seek to legitimize baseless and wild conspiracy theories, like the ones we’re seeing swirling around the Windham audit. While it is important to get to the bottom of the vote counting issue in Windham, it is dangerous to equate an one-off issue to a systematic failure with absolutely no evidence. Our leaders must act swiftly to condemn this dangerous rhetoric.”

The legislature recently passed SB43, a bipartisan bill aimed at identifying and explaining the irregularities found in Windham during a recount.
